AI agent for chasing unpaid invoices: what it does and what to keep in your hands
An AI agent for invoice chasing does the part most owners put off: it finds the overdue invoices, works out who needs a nudge, and drafts the reminder in your voice. You stay in control of anything that reaches a customer.
What the agent should do on its own
- Sort your invoices by days overdue and amount, so the biggest, oldest ones come first.
- Pick the right step for each customer: friendly nudge, firm reminder, payment-plan offer or final notice.
- Draft each message with the invoice number, amount, due date and payment link filled in.
- Remind you when a promised payment date has passed.
What should always need your approval
- Sending anything to a customer. A wrong amount or a harsh tone can cost you the client.
- Offering a discount or a payment plan.
- Any final notice or mention of next steps such as a collections agency.

A safe weekly routine
- Monday: the agent lists every invoice that is due this week or already late.
- Monday: you approve, edit or skip each drafted reminder in a few minutes.
- Midweek: the agent flags customers who replied with a date, and drafts a thank-you.
- Friday: it shows what came in, what is still open, and who moves to the next step.
What to check before you hire one
- It never sends without your click.
- It keeps a record of every reminder, so you can see who was chased and when.
- Your customer data stays private and is not used to train other models.
- You can stop at any time and keep your data.
